The punishment for heinous serial killers is more or less the same as the normal outcome of the innocent life:

We are all on death-row!

But your death, for whatever reason, will be brutal.
Not remotely humane.

I call humanity's bluff on this point:

Its need to make executions humane.
For seriously convoluted reasons, it can't give the poor bastard a hot shot of fentanyl...let him die like all his friends on the outside...peacefully...hardly spoiled the party that night.
